Make a resolution to impact a life. Help us in the fight against healthcare fraud. Many people are scammed by people who earn their trust, but by helping them understand current scams and how to protect themselves, they’ll be one step
closer to not becoming a victim.
SMP projects match a volunteer’s skills and interests to the needs of the program. As a result, SMP volunteers may serve Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers in many creative ways. The types of activities SMP volunteers perform are:
Distribute information: Help with distributing SMP information materials to sites and events; may include presenting prepared copy or performing scripted activities for small groups.
Staff exhibits: Help by staffing information exhibits at events such as health fairs; also may provide general information about SMP to the public and answer basic questions.
Make group presentations: Help by giving presentations on SMP topics to small and large groups; may interact with the audience by answering questions and through discussion.
Counsel: Help by having direct conversations with beneficiaries about their individual situations; may include review of personal information such as Medicare Summary Notices, billing statements, and other related financial and health
documents
You don’t have to be a healthcare expert to volunteer, you just need time. Training will be provided free of charge. Contact Missouri SMP to become a volunteer at www.missourismp.org or call 888-515-6565…that’s 888-515-6565.

Volunteering has become my way of life. I am a mental health survivor and advocate and want to tell my story and provide support and services to our seniormembers. Not sure if this is proper place to provide this info but wanted it heard as a grandpad participant up front. Pleasee contact me if I can be useful on a mental health project. I am a past President of the board of NAMI St. Louis, presently on the Advisory Board.

Older adults have to be very careful about these scams and not be so willing to believe everything and to give out there personal information so fast.
