World Elder Abuse Awareness Day June 15th
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is commemorated every June 15th to provide an opportunity for communities to promote a better understanding of abuse and neglect of older adults. WEAAD reminds us that elder abuse has implications for all of us. It is a call to action for individuals, organizations, and communities to learn how to identify, address, and prevent elder abuse so we can all do our part to support everyone as they age.
WEAAD ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
National Center of Elder Abuse Older people are mistreated more often than we think due to the lack of supports for older people in our communities. It doesn’t have to be this way. Get involved in creating a stronger society that safeguards our communities and prevents abuse.
Eldercare Locator The Eldercare Locator is a nationwide service that connects older Americans and their caregivers with trustworthy local support resources. Since 1991, the Eldercare Locator has been linking those who need assistance with state and local agencies on aging, as well as community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers. Whether help is needed with services such as meals, home care or transportation, or a caregiver needs training and education or a well-deserved break from caregiving responsibilities, the Eldercare Locator is there to point that person in the right direction.

You can also participate by sitting, moving your legs in stepping motion, use your Ellipse or old school leg exercise equipment-wear you favorite purple shirt, set your timer-on your phone for a mile, use your kitchen timer, watch that hour long program or listen to your favorite walking music ( i love Silk Sonics/Bruno Mars),walk with those grandkids and send in that selfie. Oh, I forgot, GrandPad has those jams to sit your walk to. 🙂

I understand not to EVEN MISUNDERSTAND that AS WE AGE WE should not MISTREAT one another NO MATTER WHAT YOUR FINANCIAL, FAMILY, RELIGION, ETC.ETC.ETC. STANCE MAYBE.
