No one likes the idea of losing control. According to the National Association for Incontinence, urinary incontinence is the second leading cause of institutionalization for senior living residents, and 53% of homebound individuals aged 65 and older suffer from incontinence. Financial burden on a fixed income and the loss of independence are major consequences of incontinence but Aging Ahead is here to help! We appealed to local hospice and homecare agencies seeking product donations, and they are delivering in a big way! In Washington, Debbie (Senior Center Administrator), has been coordinating product donation efforts with Laura, Aging Ahead’s Volunteer Coordinator. Debbie reached out to clients and began delivering products to those in need along with their Meals on Wheels. Debbie’s recipient list has grown to 16 individuals, and the Washington center has delivered 70 units to clients since February! A month’s supply of incontinence products can easily exceed $100, and for many, that cost is debilitating. Along with the extreme financial burden comes an emotional toll for those who suffer from incontinence. Individuals feel they cannot safely leave their houses and become more isolated due to the fear of an accident. This program is simply helping folks age with dignity—a mission cornerstone of Aging Ahead. Debbie recently received a tearful call from an individual receiving help who said, “This help is such a blessing to me. I had a hard time paying for products and I had to stay at home. Thank you so very much!” Special thanks to several individual and community donors including: Heartland Hospice Care, Caritas Connections, Inc., Vistas Healthcare, Visiting Nurse Association! If you would like to donate incontinence products (in unopened packages), or host a donation drive through your organization, email lconners@agingahead.org.

Hi Stephanie,
Please help my Aunt Josephine Sherrill who is 87 yrs old in Florissant, MO. I gave her a number to call for Aging Ahead for assistance but I did not know you all can help her with a month supply of incontinence products that would help her financially and enable her to go places like the mall. Bladder is out of control. She has lost over 20 lbs stressing over her daughter 64 years old who passed suddenly on May 31st from lung cancer. My cousin did not tell her Mother the week before, if the last week of chemo did not work she would not make it. Please call her at 314-562-3555. I live in St. Petersburg, FL. I have a close friend that worked for Area of Aging for 5 years till the pandemic.
Thanks, Christine

Some time ago our family physician said she would have a social worker call us. She did and followed with a wonderful email that provided us with contact information for many services, including Meals on Wheels . . . which we just started.
my big challenge is that i LOST that email.
Can you arrange for another informative email with support contacts . . . including source for incontinence supplies for my wife who has advanced Alzheimer’s Disease.
Thank you,
Larry Lindemann

I’m a social worker from BJC Home care and i’m having issues with some Medicare plans not covering incontinence supplies for our patients. They need diapers/pull ups and chux/bed sheets. I’ve been able to locate a provider for the diapers/pull ups, but not for the chux. Do you all help with this resource? Pt is in 63116. My contact is 314-304-5538 please let me know if you all can support.
