Aging Ahead does not have a budget to pay presenters and has always relied on the willingness of partners to provide educational presentations at no cost. We wanted to find a way to include topics that we did not have access to before in our Choice schedule for 2020. With our recent Choice Sponsor pilot program, we found a way to support some new programs/presentations and have been getting them on the schedule at several Choice locations. Over the next year, Aging Ahead has some really exciting programs lined up for Choice with the help of funding provided by Allwell Home State Health.
Starting in February at Samuel Sachs library, Artfully Aging will lead a watercolor session where participants can create a piece of art to take home with them and later than month, transport themselves to Japan and witness a traditional tea ceremony with the help of the Japan America Society of St. Louis. In April, Vitality Ballet will host a series of Balance Barre classes at the Edward Jones YMCA as well as the Grant’s View Library. Mental Health America will host two presentations on important issues: Managing worry and Anxiety and Reaching Resilience at Daniel Boone and Weber Road libraries. Lisa Dickmann, a certified KonMari Consultant, will help us get up to speed on the craze behind the Tidying Up Method at Daniel Boone library. Perennial will facilitate two programs at the Samuel Sachs and Florissant Valley branches in which participants work to create 3 different craft projects all made with recycled materials! Learn what your dreams means and how to interpret them with the School of Metaphysics in April at Weber Road.
These are just a few of the remarkable sponsored programs Choice is offering this year. To see a list of upcoming programs at all locations and/or to register, please go to https://www.agingahead.org/what-we-do/choice/ or call Aging Ahead at (636) 207-0847.
If you have any suggestions for presentations you’d like to see at Choice, please let us know. We hope to see you there!
