Increase the Medicaid Personal Needs Allowance (PNA) with an inflation rider

Beginning January 1, 2027, the minimum allowance should be raised from $50 to $55 and provide annual increases.  This will allow Long-term care residents to pick and choose a few more comfort and personal care items that nursing homes are not mandated to provide.

Foot Care Funding

Medicare does not cover what is generally considered routine foot care.  This proposal will benefit any senior that requires routine foot care that they cannot perform for themselves.

Resident Dwelling Accessibility Tax Credit (DAT)

The tax credit is available if you are making your home accessible for an individual that is disabled and the SHL will advocate to increase the allowed amount above the current maximum of $3,000.

Real Property Tax Exemption for Veterans with 100% Service-Connected Disability

Veterans with a 100% VA rated service-connected disability would not be required to pay property tax on their homestead.

Modify Eligibility for Aged and Disabled

This proposal would raise the Aged and Disabled Medicaid income eligibility from 85% of the Federal Poverty Level to 100% so that it is more in-line with the eligibility requirement for non-disabled adults.

It’s important to all what SHL is fighting for. Items that were offered before, some for free, many are being charged for, people-seniors are not being heard by this administration.SHL, they are going to the legislation and fighting for us, I’m 65 now. I’m a caretaker for my mom and I know myself and my mom will need DAT and senior proposed items. Read up seniors 🙂
