Location: Daniel Boone Library – 300 Clarkson Rd, Ellisville, MO 63011
Presentation Description: People collect things for many reasons – nostalgia, sentiment, financial. Spouses and adult children of the deceased often have no interest in the collection left behind when the collector passes away. As a result, they can be left with a massive problem for which they are not prepared: how best to dispose of the things that meant so much to the deceased.
This presentation provides some general guidelines for the collector’s heirs to consider both before and after this situation arises. The authors are both longtime collectors and have given this presentation in assorted settings. Dan Yezbick is a Professor of Literature at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood, and Thomas Eyssell is a retired Professor of Finance and Legal Studies from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Note: nothing in the presentation should be construed as financial or tax advice.
