Bob Borders, a dedicated Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer from Lemay, turned 80 on August 29th. A big birthday for anyone, Bob knew his family would throw him a big party. He asked his friends and family that in lieu of gifts, they donate to the Aging Ahead meal program. Bob has been delivering meals to homebound seniors for 13 years. When asked why he decided to dedicate his birthday gifts to Aging Ahead, he simply said, “Well, those people need it more than me. I’ve been very blessed, and I wanted to help others.” And, help, he certainly did! Bob’s birthday donations raised $870! Bob’s wife, Nancy, celebrated her birthday and raised an additional $50. Together, Bob and Nancy raised enough money to cover 102 meals—greatly impacting the older adults Bob delivers meals to daily.
