Aging Ahead is committed to making diversity and inclusion a part of our organizational DNA. Together, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of those in our community. To elevate this commitment even further, we are proud to have achieved Bronze level as an organization by working together with SAGE to participate in their SAGECare program.
Our dedication to the SAGECare accreditation process conveys that we are welcoming, inclusive, and prepared to work with a diverse population of LGBT clients, family, community partners, and staff.
Visitors to our community locations, office, and website will see our SAGECare credentials and know that Aging Ahead is dedicated to supporting all people and welcoming LGBT people and their allies.
We are also proud to have been included in this new guide produced by the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging. This guide will help promote advocacy by older LGBT people, allies and organizations in support of a more inclusive aging network. You can view and download the new guides here.

Hello,
I am reaching out to tell you about Aging with Pride: IDEA (Innovations in Dementia Empowerment and Action) from the University of Washington. IDEA is the first federally funded research study examining ways to improve the health and quality of life for adults aged 50 and older with memory loss and their caregivers in the LGBTQ community. They participate as a pair and at least one of them must be LGBTQ. They do not need to live together. A trained coach meets individually with the pair for nine sessions that focus on problem solving, improving communication, and low impact exercises. The sessions are free and virtual, using easy video chatting, so participants don’t have to leave home. We provide tablets with connectivity if needed and compensation for completing phone interviews. The IDEA program is available in all 50 states.
Would it be possible to provide an IDEA study flyer to those you serve? I can send you a pdf of the flyer that you can print or I would be happy to mail as many flyers as needed. If you have a newsletter, I can provide a short description about the IDEA program or a ¼ -page ad to include in an upcoming issue. I also have a 20-minute presentation that I present to agencies via teleconferencing that discusses dementia and caregiving in the LGBTQ community and how the IDEA program addresses the issues. Feel free to share this email with anyone in your organization or network that works with older adults. Our website link and my contact information are below. Please let me know if I can answer any questions or provide any additional information about the IDEA program. I look forward to hearing from you.
With gratitude, Amy
