Assistance Home Care
Spend a little time with Allen Serfas and you will quickly learn why the business Allen and his wife, Sally started just over 9 years ago has become a prominent in-home care provider serving the metro St. Louis area. After learning firsthand what families go through as they cared for a loved one who wished to remain in her home, but faced some health challenges, the Serfas’s made the decision to base the foundation of their new business on providing excellent care, every time.
Mr. Serfas recently gave Aging Ahead staff a tour of Assistance Home Care’s (AHC) main office in St Charles and sat down to share some of his passion for the work they do. Nine years ago, Assistance Home Care opened their doors to help understand the needs and goals of individuals and families in relation to caring for a loved one at home. “Our core values drive us and our team’s continued success! Respect is a powerful word at Assistance Home Care and means the world to us. Our entire team is committed to respecting themselves, their clients, and their teammates each and every day,” Mr. Serfas explained. He stated the company was founded on the principle of providing the highest quality dependable home care in St. Louis for those who wish to remain in their own homes and need some assistance.
Another critical component of Assistance Home Care’s business model is giving back to the community. They focus on supporting organizations that share their interest in helping people remain in their homes and Aging Ahead is thankful to be aligned with them in this goal. Recognizing employees are also interested in working for companies that give back and have “goals that go beyond the bottom line” helps AHC attract quality employees. Allen has served on the Aging Ahead’s Foundation Board for over 8 years and remains committed to meeting the mission of the Foundation, which is to raise awareness and funds to support Aging Ahead and those we serve.
Assistance Home Care has recently made donations to two programs at Aging Ahead with the hopes of inspiring other area businesses to step up to support older adults in our community. Becoming a Patron at all of our senior centers, ACH makes a small monthly donation to each location to help prevent older adults from feeling isolated and lonely. The senior centers provide an engaging place filled with activities, exercise classes, a midday meal, and so much more to adults 60 and older. Donations to the Patron Program help ensure centers remain a welcoming and valued part of the community.

Assistance Home Care has also created a new way for Aging Ahead to engage and encourage donations to the agency. All Aging Ahead programs and services are offered at no charge with the opportunity for participants to make a voluntary donation. Our hope is by introducing DipJars at our events, locations, and throughout the community, donations will increase to better reflect the importance of supporting individuals on the journey of aging. To host a DipJar at your business or event, please contact Kerri at kgallagher@agingahead.org
Many thanks to Assistance Home Care for your commitment to the community and to supporting everyone’s desire to age well. We are thankful to be Aging Ahead with you. To learn more about ACH, please visit https://www.assistancehomecarestlouis.com/
