After 44 years of service, Jan Bommarito is retiring as Aging Ahead’s Executive Administrative Assistant. Since 1976, Jan Bommarito has been the smile behind Aging Ahead.
From her first years as a receptionist to later transitioning to her final role as the Executive Administrative Assistant, Jan helped grow and shape the agency, “I have loved seeing the agency flourish into what it is today. Over 44 years, you can imagine how many changes an organization goes through; it’s been a privilege to be a part of those changes.”
When asked to impart advice on new Aging Ahead employees, Jan stated, “It’s been such a rewarding experience to be a part of a team and organization that assists the most vulnerable citizens throughout our state. As a senior citizen, I appreciate the essential programs and services that Aging Ahead provides. I would say that maintaining a positive attitude and supporting the team will carry out the mission of Aging Ahead.” She went on to say, “It really does take a village to get the work done. I’ve really admired seeing everyone come together over the years to accomplish the common goal to support individuals through the journey of aging.”
As everyone knows at Central Office, Jan enjoyed baking treats for the office. Her signature brownies and chocolate chip cookies are legendary! Her secrets? Use real butter and make the cookie dough the night before to allow it to sufficiently chill.
Jan plans to spend her retirement relaxing, traveling, and playing bunko with her girlfriends. We wish you the best, Jan! We are so grateful to have been Aging Ahead with you!
